With overseas travel still off the cards for some time – except New Zealand!, there’s never been a better time to plan a staycation in Melbourne!
With many new hotels recently opened or slated to open later in 2021, there are so many hotels to choose from for your Melbourne staycation from the well-priced NEXT Hotel to the uber ritzy Ritz Carlton Melbourne.
I’ve created a list of the best newly opened hotels in Melbourne, Australia.
New Hotels in Melbourne 
One of Melbourne’s newest luxury hotels, W Melbourne has opened on the cities iconic Flinders Lane.
Check in to spacious modern rooms that offer guests luxury amenities and bold interiors. My favourite thing? All guest bathrooms are equipped with a rainforest-style shower!
Guests can enjoy complimentary guest WiFi, private parking (at an additional fee), and the choice of dining at three restaurants or drinks at two on-site bars. Or enjoy the cocktail-making facilities in your room!
Be sure to unwind in the hotel’s indoor swimming pool, relax on the sun terrace, or get your sweat on in the gym during your stay!
There are few luxury hotels on the southwest side of Melbourne unless you want to stay in the Docklands. The W Melbourne’s location gives guests easy access to Flinders Street Station, Federation Square, Crown Casino, and being only a short walk from incredible restaurants like Vue de Monde and its equally impressive Lui Bar.

Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street
After a five-year hiatus, the Hilton brand is back in Melbourne!
Comfortable rooms are fuse modern and heritage design together utilising existing features of the heritage builing while adding special touches with velvet chairs and cushions, rainforest showers, and plush robes. The beds – ranging from King Size to Double Beds – utilise Hilton’s signature mattresses and linens which leave you feeling like you are sleeping in clouds! Choose from city view rooms or ones which look out over the colourful graffiti clad laneway.
All rooms are equipped with WiFi and a work space, as well as 55-inch HD Smart TVs. There’s also an on-site gym which is available for use 24/7.
Aviation lovers and cocktail connoisseurs will love the on-site Douglas Club, an opulent lounge bar that celebrates the glamour of 1930s travel and hospitality. There’s also contemprary Australian restaurant, Luci, on-site in the former grand banking hall.
Located just 500 metres walk from Bourke Street Shopping Mall and 15-minutes from the Queen Victoria Market, Royal Botanic Gardens or National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) allows you to get to the cities best spots quickly. You’re also a five-minute drive from Marvel Stadium – where many AFL games are held and music concerts.

The Quincy Melbourne
Located in the heart of Melbourne on the iconic Flinders Lane, Quincy Melbourne is the the newest boutique hotel in Melbourne.
Inside the 28 storey high building you’ll discover the colourful style of Southeast Asia. Plus and comfortable rooms are decorated in shades of jade, pink and blue designed for good fortune and joy. Bathrooms are equipped with high pressure shower heads and Kevin & Murphy toiletries.
Each guest room is finished to a standard, including free WiFi, Chromecast, compliementary on-demand movies, a pillow menu, espresso coffee machine and mroe.
There’s also a rooftop swimming pool, gym, and the choice of two on-site restaurants and Q-Bar to get your night started!
When you stay at Quincy Hotel Melbourne, you are located just a short walk from the Southern Cross Station, Crown Precinct, Eureka Skydeck, and great fashion and food on Flinders Lane!

Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer
From one of the world’s most luxurious hotel groups, the soon-to-open Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne is set to be home to 172 stylish rooms located on Spencer Street Melbourne.
While pictures of the rooms are not yet available, I have been told that guests will have access to premium bedding, black out curtains, rainforest showers, and natural bath & body amenities during their stay. All guests will hvae access to complimentary high speed WiFi.
Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne is located opposite Southern Cross Station, making is easy for guests arriving in the city to travel from the airport by Skybus. Guests will have access to the shopping at the DFO Specer St, be within walking distance of luxury shopping and dining in the Crown Precinct, and close to gourmet fine dining at Vue de Monde, drinks at Lui Bar, or brunch at Higher Ground (located next door to the hotel).

Ovolo South Yarra
Looking for luxury accommodation in South Yarra for a night out or weekend getaway to Melbourne? The Ovolo South Yarra may be what you are looking for!
Set in the fashionable neighbourhood just a 10-minutes train or drive (or a little further if you choose to take the tram) from Melbourne’s city centre, this boutique hotel in South Yarra is sure to delight. Blending retro-chic and pop-art, the hotel is taking design cues from the days of retro glamour – all mods, zero cons.
Each room is bright in colour and filled with plush furnishing, including their four Rockstar suites which come with record players for guests to use. Next Hotel Melbourne
Located in the East End of Melbourne, Next Hotel is the perfect affordable hotel in Melbourne kitted out with luxurious touches. Mixing granite, leather, and plush, it brings a touch of heritage to the hotel (the hotel is located on the site of an 1830s horse bazaar).
Comfortable rooms are simple but elegant focusing on providing lots of light for you, with great views of the surrounding cityscape. With cosy bedding, workspace, and cosy armchair in each room, you’ll be able to relax your way. You’ll find a Dyson hairdryer in the granite-clad bathroom and an espresso machine for your morning brew – though I highly recommend the tiny but tasty Ingresso next door.
For visitors to Melbourne, Next Hotel Melbourne’s location is close to Bourke Street Shopping Mall, China Town, and the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens; you’ll be well placed to enjoy the best of the city during your trip to Melbourne when you stay at Next Hotel.

Lancemore Crossley St. Melbourne
Nestled between the Paris end of Bourke Street, the Theatre District, Chinatown, and some of Melbourne’s best restaurants, it’s an easy decision for the culturally curious to book into the new Lancmore Crossley St.
This boutique hotel offers just 113 art-filled rooms, including some with balconies or suites with 1- or 2-bedrooms.
For those who love a firm bed, this is your hotel. Simple furnishings adorn the room, all giving it a high class feel with leather, dark woods, and marble. Rooms come with complimentary minibars featuring local brews (including Four Pillars Gin), free WiFi, and Bose Bluetooth speaker to enjoy. Guests can also enjoy the fitness centre located on-site, open 24-7.
If you prefer to stay in rather than venture out, the Lancemore has come up with special menus with Bodega Underground (available until midnight – try their renowned fish tacos!) and neighbouring Longrain – considered one of the cities best restaurants – have created a three-course curated dining experience for you to enjoy from the privacy of your suite. Bliss!

Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands
Set to open in August 2021, the Melbourne Marriott Docklands hotel is going to be one of the first 5-start hotels in the Docklands district!
While not much has been released about the hotel so far, I have been assured there is going to be stunning architecture, a fully-equipped fitness centre and rooftop infinity pool, and complimentary WiFi.
