9 Melbourne Markets Worth Checking Out

Best Markets in Melbourne, Australia | A woman looking at fresh produce at South Melbourne Market, Victoria, Australia

There’s no better way to get a gauge on the cities pulse than by heading to a market!

Whether you want to simply soak up the atmosphere, enjoy a meal, find a keepsake, or stock your fridge with the freshest produce the city has to offer, discovering Melbourne’s best markets is a great way to get a taste for the city.

These are my favourite Melbourne markets –

South Melbourne Markets

Established in 1867, South Melbourne Market is the quintessential village market. Sure you can pick up your produce, but there’s also fashion, homewares, and great good.

There’s a restaurant for almost every palate – South Melbourne Market Dim Sims is one of the city’s institutions, sweet tooths will love La Lapa’s donuts, cronuts, and cruffins, and you will find me at Köy Restaurant to pick up a Börek on Sundays! – and in the newly renovated SO:ME space you might discover a new favourite fashion piece or home accessory (I’m a massive fan of The SuperCool for quirky gifts for adults and kids and Dyad Artisans incredible Iranian homewares!)

Head on down and you’ll discover why South Melbourne Markets are my favourite markets in Melbourne!
